The Algarve, Portugal’s southern region, is a place that celebrates diversity. You feel it wandering through historic cobblestone streets and along the marina, in the food and architecture, and in the kindness of strangers who seem like old friends. Portugal is known for orange and fig trees, sardines and Port wine, Fado music and striking coastlines, but Faro is where the beauty of this country comes together.
Over three days, Natalie and I watched Faro reveal itself through the warmth of its people, the depth of its past and the way everything, from a palm weaving workshop to a simple glass of wine, echoed the same message: The world is reflected here. And you’re part of it.

O Algarve, a região sul de Portugal, é um local que celebra a diversidade. Sente-se ao passear pelas históricas ruas de paralelepípedos e ao longo da marina, na comida e na arquitetura, e na bondade de estranhos que parecem velhos amigos. Portugal é conhecido pelas laranjeiras e figueiras, pelas sardinhas e pelo vinho do Porto, pelo fado e por litorais deslumbrantes, mas Faro é onde se encontra a beleza deste país.
Ao longo de três dias, a Natalie e eu vimos Faro revelar-se através da cordialidade do seu povo, da profundidade do seu passado e da forma como tudo, desde uma oficina de tecelagem de palmeiras a um simples copo de vinho, ecoava a mesma mensagem: O mundo reflete-se aqui. E você faz parte dele.
